Swift to hear, slow to speak

Proverbs 3:30 Do not strive with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm.

Proverbs 18:13 He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.

Psalm 39:1, 4 I said: I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me... Lord, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am.

Psalm 141:3 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips

 Job 6: 24
Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

Proverbs 10:18-19 Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool. In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.

Job 13:5 Oh, that you would be silent, and it would be your wisdom!

Psalm 37:7-8 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.

Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.

Proverbs 11:12 He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, But a man of understanding holds his peace.

Proverbs 12:13 The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will come through trouble.

Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirs up strife, But he who is slow to anger allays contention.

Proverbs 17:27–28 He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.

Proverbs 18:6-8 A fool’s lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul. The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, And they go down into the inmost body.

Proverbs 15:4
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Proverbs 21:23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.

Proverbs 29:5 A man who flatters his neighbor Spreads a net for his feet.

Proverbs 29:11 A fool vents all his feelings, But a wise man holds them back.

Isaiah 30:15
For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength."

Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you

James 1:19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath
